The Maryland Chamber of Commerce has launched a Web site to boost businesses’ involvement in state politics.
The site, ChamberActionNetwork.com, will feature blog postings, video updates and issue pages explaining how policy affects businesses.
Business groups in Maryland like the chamber have been working to boost their advocacy over the past year, after a November 2007 special session of the General Assembly created several new taxes on businesses. That included the so-called “tech tax,” a 6 percent sales tax on computer services that was repealed earlier this year after business outcry.
The site highlights priority issues for businesses including taxes, health care, workplace regulation, energy and transportation. It also shows alerts for special legislative events and votes.
About 50 chambers of commerce across the state partnered with the state chamber on the site.
