Cape Coral residents got the chance Tuesday to view the new voting machines they will be using in the Aug. 26 primary at the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral Welcome Center as part of the chamber’s voter registration drive.
Officials with the Lee County Supervisor of Elections Office were on hand to show voters how the new optical scanning voting machines operate.
Joni Schopke, community awareness director, said the new voting system provides physical evidence of each vote — unlike the touch-screen voting system used in previous elections — in addition to recording each vote electronically.
